United Through Football is a community-focused initiative dedicated to supporting young people from multicultural backgrounds through sport, recreation, and cultural engagement. Based across communities in Melbourne, including City of Melbourne, Wyndham Council, Maribyrnong Council and Moonee Valley City Council, we create safe and inclusive spaces where young people can connect, grow, and thrive.
Our programs use football as a powerful tool to bring people together, while also promoting physical health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. Through initiatives such as after-school programs, school holiday activities, and community events, we support young people to build confidence, develop skills, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging.

United Through Football was created from a simple idea, that sport, particularly football, has the power to bring people together beyond language, culture, and background. What began as informal kickabouts with young people in communities across Melbourne quickly grew into something more meaningful.
We saw that many young people from multicultural backgrounds, particularly in City of Melbourne, Wyndham Council, Maribyrnong City Council and Moonee Valley City Council, were seeking connection, belonging, and safe spaces to express themselves. Football became the common ground, a way to build trust, friendships, and confidence.
From those early sessions, United Through Football evolved into a community-driven program delivering structured activities, school holiday programs, after-school sessions, and cultural events. While football remains at the heart of what we do, our work has grown to support young people in building identity, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
Today, we continue to work alongside young people and communities to create opportunities that empower, connect, and celebrate diversity — staying true to where we started: bringing people together through the game.
